H. Pylori Infection

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria that can develop in your digestive tract. It attacks the lining of your stomach, which protects you from the acid your body uses to digest food. If the bacteria does enough damage, acid can get through the lining, leading to Gastric Ulcers.

Symptoms

While most people with H. pylori infection will never have any signs or symptoms, some people may experience:

  • Nausea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Frequent burping
  • Heartburn
  • Abdominal pain
  • Bloating
  • Unintentional weight loss

Treatment

  • Antibiotics
  • Pepto-Bismol
  • Medication to reduce or block acid production
